Taylor Davidson · Hello

Taylor Davidson leads financial operations and builds the systems that support them as a fractional CFO and the founder of Hemrock (formerly Foresight). His financial models have been downloaded more than 90,000 times by more than 56,000 people worldwide for projections, budgeting, fundraising, investment strategy, portfolio construction, and fund reporting. He builds software for venture fund operations, including the open-source Portfolio platform, and has taught classes and workshops on cap tables, exit waterfalls, and venture fund forecasting to hundreds of founders, investors, advisers, finance leaders, and accountants.

He is currently the Chief Financial Officer (fractional) for Laconia Capital Group, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage B2B software startups. Taylor has invested in and advised early-stage startups as an angel investor, venture capitalist, consultant, and mentor, and he was formerly the Director of kbs+ Ventures, an NYC-based early-stage venture investment arm of the advertising agency kbs.

He was previously a professional photographer, focusing on outdoor and business event photography. Clients included Clinton Global Initiative, The Economist, CNN, The Rockefeller Foundation, and many others, and he gave talks and spoke on panels about photography for PDN, CEPIC, SXSW, VII, and more.

Taylor was born in Virginia, lived in the Bahamas and England when he was young, and graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in Economics and the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University with an MBA in Finance. He has previously lived in New York, NY, New Orleans, LA, London, UK, Chicago, IL and other places, and he currently lives in Pittsburgh, PA.
