An update on the two Excel financial model templates for entrepreneurs I built and released to the web. Download and donate.
Yes, financial models are always wrong. But it’s important to create one anyway. Trust me. I have created, modified, and delivered hundreds of custom financial models in Excel for a range of clients over the past decade, and learned a lot about how to create and use financial models in decision-making.
But creating a financial model from scratch can be hard if you don’t know where to start. Therefore, in 2009 I released two fully-functioning Excel financial model templates free for you to download and use.
Interested? You aren’t alone. These models been downloaded over 6,000 times (up to August 2010) and used by startups that have presented at TechCrunch 50 and other forums.
They are released as freeware, but I’d be happy to accept $15 as a donation to keep these models free to the public to download, modify and use.
Here’s my question: if I were to update the models and release a new template:
- What would you like me to change?
- What functionalities should I add? What components are missing that you’d love and use?
- How could I make the models easier to understand, use and modify?
Below are the models. Download, review, use, modify, and donate.
