Above, from a ramen shop in Kamakura, Japan, on a search for a quintessential experience and a full belly; below, from David duChemin’s “Within The Frame”, on creating iconic images in mundane places:

Creating an iconic image is not easy, but I’m pretty sure most of them have not been taken at iconic places. … Instead, iconic images seem to be taken in places we most resonate with, places where daily life occurs- the struggle to earn a living, to find love, to conquer our fears or our demons.

… An easier task is to being making images that, while not iconic in their own right, contain iconic elements. … It begins with finding those quintessential and unique experiences and activities of a place.

This is a lovely image, really tells a story. This is exactly the kind of place I would like to photograph more, but I'm usually afraid someone will get mad. Great shot.
