Richard Parry at SXSW | Austin, Texas | Mar 2009

In Austin I met director, writer and filmmaker Richard Parry and had the chance to see his documentary “Blood Trail” at SXSW.

“Blood Trail” is the story of war photographer Robert King and how, “despite himself”, he finds a way to establish himself as a respected professional in a very tough industry, following him over fifteen years through conflict zones such as Bosnia, Chechnya and Iraq. It’s an grounding reminder of what photography is really about; while we talk about marketing and finding a better way to communicate to a broader audience using social media and Twitter, at the end of the day the content has to be there. And in “Blood Trail”, it’s there.
