Washington, DC -- january/2006

"Pursuit of happiness... or pursuit of joy?"

Excerpt from the Bill of Rights at Thomas Jefferson's memorial in DC. My only quibble is with the "pursuit of happiness"- I think the grander goal is the "pursuit of joy". Happiness is something achieved, impermanent and fleeting by its very nature.

Joy is more of a fundamental feeling rather than a state achieved. While happiness is and end-goal, joy is a state of being that pushes us to achieve other, grander things.
